St. Louis, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team were looking to stop their five game losing streak in front of a packed gymnasium, against Columbia College. The Cougars took control of the game from the start, winning 66-46.
After a tough loss to Stephens College, the Spartans had another tough test against a well played Cougar team. Columbia College jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. Missouri Baptist battled back and were down 20-16, after a two point shot made by Chelsea Prosser.
Columbia went on a 15-5 run to close out the first half, leading 35-21. Andrea Seabaugh and Chelsea Prosser each had six points. Heather English of Columbia had a strong first half with 15 points.
The team wanted to get back into the game quickly, gaining momentum and getting the capacity crowd behind them. Missouri Baptist continued to knock down shots, but the Cougars had an answer for each basket. Columbia went on to take care of business, winning by 20.
The Spartans were led by Andrea Seabaugh with nine points and eight rebounds. Chelsea Prosser chipped in eight points and Janelle Hensold added six points to go along with a team high tie in rebounds with eight. The Cougars had four players in double figures, led by Heather English with 17 points. Airelle Eldridge added 13 points and Kirsti Wilkerson and Julie Teeple chipped in 10.
The teams' record falls to 6-12, but will head on the road to Hannibal-LaGrange University on November 26th at 5:30 p.m. in hopes of ending their losing streak.
