LEBANON, Ill. – The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team lost its fifth straight game Wednesday night, falling 82-58 to the McKendree Bearcats.
The Spartans started off strong and looked like they wanted to get back in the win column. They went into the half tied at 34.
In the second half, however, the game turned in favor of the Bearcats.
"In the second half we went cold and had some critical turnovers," said head coach Iris Dixon.
Mckendree outscored Missouri Baptist 48-24 over the final 20 minutes, as the Spartans converted just nine of 40 field goal attempts in the second half.
Iesha McDaniels battled hard in the losing effort. McDaniels had her first double-double of the year, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Kristyne Smyth was next in scoring for the Spartans with 13 points.
The Spartans dropped to 2-8 on the season, but look to bounce back next Sat. Dec. 15th. MBU comes home to take on Missouri Valley College. One of the Spartans two wins this season came against Missouri Valley on Nov. 20, 64-62. The game time is set for 2 p.m.
