Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team won their second game in a row, getting redemption against Stephens College winning 53-45.
In the first meeting between the two teams, Stephens shocked the Spartans for the 49-47 win. The two teams met again at Stephens and the first half was not a start that neither team wanted. The Spartans shot 25%, but took a 17-14 lead after a Lauren Taylor three pointer. Andrea Seabaugh added another three just before the half for the 20-16 advantage.
The first nine minutes in the second half, was a back and forth scoring frenzy. Lauren Taylor who added 22 points off the bench, gave the team a 33-31 lead after a two point basket. Missouri Baptist was able to fight off the Stars, the rest of the half for the eight point win.
It was an even matchup statistically for each team, as both teams had 17 turnovers to go along with a tie in rebounds with 36. The Spartans shot a much improved 45% from the field in the second half.
Taylor was 7-16 from the field, shooting 50% from three the three point arc and was 6-8 from the free throw line. Also, having a strong game was Andrea Seabaugh with 14 points and six rebounds. Leading the team in rebounds was Chelsea Prosser with 10. Megan Sheffield led the Stars with nine points and 11 rebounds.
The team has a tough match-up next on the road against first place Columbia College on February 16th at 5:30 p.m.
