Marshall, Mo. - The #3 ranked Spartans and the #5 ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings met for the second time this year. The Vikings got the better of the Spartans this time around, winning in three sets, 0-3.
In the first meeting between the two teams held at Missouri Baptist, the Spartans defeated MVC in four sets. It was a top five matchup again, with MBU in second place in the American Midwest Conference and Missouri Valley in third.
It was a strong showing by the Vikings, as the team took down Missouri Baptist in the first set, for the 20-25 win. Missouri Valley grabbed the second set, cruising to a 17-25 win, putting the Spartans well behind.
The team needed some type of spark in the third set, but the Vikings took care of their conference foe, for the 19-25 set and match win. Jonathan Roldan led the Spartans with 11 kills and nine digs. Gustavo Cintron added nine kills and three blocks.
The teams' record falls to 14-10 on the year, but will look for a key road win at Quincy University on March 13th at 7:00 p.m.
