SPARTANS VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS WIN STREAK TO EIGHT

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team, ranked second in the nation, traveled to Iowa for two MAMVIC West games, and MBU started off the weekend with a 3-1 victory over the sixth ranked Grand View University.

It was a back and forth battle all night with neither team jumping out to a large lead at any point in the match. The Spartans took the first set 25-21.

The second set was the longest of the match. MBU only had a .086 attack percentage and Grand View won the set 27-25. The third set of the night was the best defensive game for the Spartans allowing Grand View a .036 attack percentage while MBU had a .375 attack percentage. MBU won the third set 25-20.

In the fourth and final set of the night, the Spartans came out ready to put Grand View away for the match. MBU jumped out to a 16-11 leading forcing Grand View to call a timeout and see if they could turn things around. However, MBU was too much for them to handle and went on to win the set 25-23, and the match 3-1.

With the win tonight, the Spartans have extending their winning streak to eight straight matches. MBU is 12-2 on the season and 5-1 in the MAMVIC West. The next match is Saturday at Graceland University. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
