DENVER, Colo. – The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball season came to an end Friday night against the No. 1 ranked Park Pirates in the semifinal match of the 2013 NAIA Men's Volleyball National Invitational Tournament. The Pirates won the match 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-21).
MBU did not get off to the start they would have liked in the first set. The Pirate defense held MBU to under a positive hitting percentage and only eight kills.
The second and third sets were better for the Spartans but MBU did not get the results that they would have liked. MBU had a .323 hitting percentage in the second and closest set of the match. In the third and final set the Spartans only had a .100 attack percentage.
Gustavo Cintron had a big match for the Spartans with 23 kills and a hitting percentage of .471. The MAMVIC West Setter of the Year had 29 assists, two kills and five digs. Each team had just on service ace apiece.
Robert Esser had 29 assists in the match and with a hitting percentage of .333 he was the only other MBU player with a positive attack percentage.
