LAMONI, Iowa. – The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball went into the MAMVIC West conference tournament with high hopes, but lost their opening match to the Grand View Vikings 3-0.
The Spartans got off to a very rough start in the first match and the Vikings took the set 25-13. MBU only had a .076 attack percentage for the set. The second set did not go much better for the Spartans. The Vikings won the set 25-16. MBU had a.236 hitting percentage in the set.
The third and final set of the night was the best for the Spartans, but still did not go the way they would have liked. The Vikings took the set 25-22 and won the match 3-0. In the set MBU had a .458 hitting percentage in the set but was not enough for the set.
For the match MBU hit .303 while have 11 service errors. Gustavo Cintron had eight kills and Jordan Pinto had seven kills in the match. Danny Gruszczyk had 14 digs.
The Spartans now wait and hope to get a bid for the National Tournament which takes place in Denver, Colo. April 18-20 at Johnson & Wales University.
