ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist women's basketball played a hard 40 minutes on Saturday as the team collected its second win in the AMC, 83-43, over the Benedictine-Springfield Bulldogs.
Missouri Baptist (4-7, 2-1 AMC) played as well as it had all season on the low post as four players ended in double digits.
The Spartans took control from the outset and entered halftime with a commanding 43-14 lead. Morgan Settle, Taylor Klingelhoefer and Jasmine Jackson all posted 10 points in the opening period of play.
It was a total team effort for MBU, however, as the team played an up-tempo style of play from the first whistle to the final horn. Settle ended her day with 18 points, while Jackson and Klingelhoefer both collected 16 points of their own.
Freshman Kennedy Smith was also quite productive off the bench for MBU. The Columbia, Mo., native recorded a double-double on the day (14 points, 10 rebounds).
Benedictine-Springfield came out very strong in the second half of the game and pressured the Spartans under the hoop. Brittany Rush finished the game with 13 points and was the lone Bulldog to reach double digits.
Missouri Baptist will now need to gear-up as the No. 3 team in the nation, Freed-Hardeman, will travel to St. Louis on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
