SPARTANS BREAK EVEN AT MOLTEN INVITATIONAL

ST. LOUIS – [ST. AMBROSE BOX SCORE] [GRACELAND BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team split on Saturday, day two of the Molten Invitational. MBU struggled to gain the advantage over St. Ambrose University, but bounced back to sweep Graceland University later in the day.

In match one against St. Ambrose the Spartans (4-4, 1-0 NAIA South) pushed the Bees past 25 in set one, but subsequently fell short. In sets two and three MBU fought to find their rhythm but in the end came up short (25-27, 22-25, 23-25).

In the loss Mico Janicijevic posted 15 kills, and was followed by Sean Benedict who contributed 10 kills of his own.

Match two proved to be a different story, as the Spartans held for a 3-0 sweep of the Graceland Yellow Jackets (25-15, 25-16, 25-21).

Chris Flood took the lead for MBU with 10 kills out of 13 for a hitting percentage of .615, dominated the service line with five aces, and contributed four digs in the match. Sophomore Mico Janicijevic also contributed 7 kills.

Missouri Baptist will return home to face Culver-Stockton College on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, in the Carl & Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
