ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Despite a close call in the first set, the No. 6 Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team remains undefeated in conference play with a 3-0 win against the Missouri Valley Vikings on Tuesday night.
Through the first set MBU (7-4, 2-0) held the lead with the Vikings hot on their tails. Able to close the lead, Missouri Valley tied the score at 24. With a battle to the finish the teams traded points back and forth until the Spartans came out with the 29-27 set one victory.
In spite of the Vikings persistence, Missouri Baptist had found their rhythm and took set two 25-18.
MBU took control in set three and held Missouri Valley to a -0.071 hitting percentage. Kyle Foley and Chris Flood combined for five service aces in the set.
Mico Janicijevic lead the Spartans with 12 kills on 23 attempts for a 0.478 hitting percentage with only one error. Flood added nine kills from the outside as well. Shane Welch ended the night with an outstanding hitting percentage of 0.778 with 7 kills off of 9 total attacks.
Missouri Baptist continues conference play at home on February 11, 2015, against No. 1 Park University.
