ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Despite taking No. 2 Clarke University down one set, the Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team lost 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 19-25, 21-25) on day two of the Viking Invitational.
MBU (12-5, 4-0) came out with a strong start and was able to win set one against No. 2 Clarke University. However, the Crusaders came back and swept the Spartans in the next three sets.
Chris Flood led Missouri Baptist from the outside with 16 kills, one service ace, and eight digs. Right behind Flood was middle blocker Shane Welch. Welch posted 13 kills on 18 total attempts with only two errors for an impressive attack percentage of .611 in four sets.
Due to inclement weather, the Spartans second game of the day against Calumet College of St. Josephs was cancelled.
MBU will return home for a week off before a run of home games over the following two weeks. The Spartans will look forward to hosting Cincinnati Christian University on March 10, McKendree University on March 16, and the Spartan Invitational on March 20 & 21.
