SPARTANS SWEEP EAGLES IN THREE

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The No. 3-ranked Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team swept Cincinnati Christian University three sets to none (25-18, 25-10, 25-22) on Tuesday afternoon.

With a close score through the beginning of the first set the Spartans finally hit their stride and took control of the game to win the set 25-18.

A change in line-up gave MBU a lift as they continued to hold the momentum in the second set.

The Eagles, however, pushed the Spartans back. MBU pulled-up from behind and took the final set 25-22 and grabbed the three set sweep.

Shane Welch came up big for the Spartans with 10 kills and a smashing attack percentage of 0.643. Mico Janicijevic followed right behind Welch with eight kills of his own.  Josh Williams posted a new career high of eight kills on an attack percentage of 0.545.

Missouri Baptist moved up to number three this week in the national Top 10 Poll and look to hold that slot with the win over Cincinnati Christian. The Spartans will have a busy week next week hosting McKendree University on Monday (March 16) and the Spartan Invitational on Friday and Saturday (March 20-21) where the team will face four nationally ranked teams: #5 St. Ambrose, #6 Concordia – Irvine, #10 Lourdes University, and #4 Grand View University (ratings as of March 9, 2015).
