SPARTANS ROLL PAST VIKINGS

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team remained undefeated in the South conference with a 3-0 sweep of Missouri Valley on Tuesday night (25-18, 25-17, 25-18).

The Spartans (19-6, 6-0) notched the first point of the game with an attacking error from Missouri Valley. MBU continued to hold the lead through the entirety of set one. The Vikings made several advances on Missouri Baptist but were only able to tie the score. The Spartans held Missouri Valley to their lowest hitting percentage of the game at 0.100 with only eight kills in the set.

MBU held more of a commanding lead throughout the second set as the Spartans hit 0.526 and prevented the Vikings from even tying the score.

Missouri Baptist continued to roll through set three with the momentum from the first two sets. Mico Janicijevic advanced the Spartan lead to six as the team kept him at the service line for four serves in a row. One of those serves produced his fifth ace of the game.

Missouri Baptist remained patient and let the Vikings make their own errors throughout the game and took advantage of key moments to maintain the lead.

Janicijevic closed out the game with an outstanding hitting percentage of 0.750. The native of Serbia had 12 kills off 16 total attempts and no errors while he posted five service aces. Chris Flood who was only three kills behind Janicijevic, recorded eight kills on the night. Sean Benedict was also big at the service line tonight for the Spartans. The right side matched his career high of three aces.

Missouri Baptist will continue their big travel week tomorrow. MBU will face nonconference opponent Culver-Stockton in Canton, Missouri, at 7:00 pm.
