SPARTANS OVERPOWER WILDCATS

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team continued it's stellar play and swept Culver-Stockton 3-0 on Wednesday evening. 

The Spartans (20-6, 6-0) took control of the game right away in set one. Missouri held an 0.600 hitting percentage as a team in the first set.

MBU continued to lead the Wildcats through the second set though CSC hung with the No. 3-ranked Spartans for a time. Missouri Baptist held Culver-Stockton to a -0.115 hitting percentage and only allowed six kills in the set.

Through the third set the Wildcats remained two or three points behind MBU as Culver-Stockton closed the gap at 24 and scored the next point to put themselves at set point in effort to take a set from the No. 3 ranked Missouri Baptist. With a vital time out the Spartans regained control and finished out the set 27-25.

Mico Janicijevic led the Spartans with 17 kills on the night from the outside. Middle Blocker Shane Welchhad a killer hitting percentage of 0.643 off of 10 kills, 14 total attempts, and only one error.  Freshman setter Kyle Foley averaged an impressive 13 assists per set.

The Spartans will have a day off before they travel to Davenport, Iowa, to compete in the Fight Bees Classic where Missouri Baptist hopes to finish out the week 6-0. MBU will face #10 Graceland University, #2 Grand View, and #5 St. Ambrose.
