PIRATES DEAL SPARTANS FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team was handed their first conference loss on Wednesday night at the Breckon Sports center against Park University in a 3-0 loss (25-19, 25-23, 25-22).

The Spartans fell to an early deficit in the first set, but kept the Pirates within five points.

MBU came around in the second set and took the lead for the first time in the game with a kill from Chris Flood.  Missouri Baptist began to find its stride as they held the advantage until Park University came back and tied the score at 11. The teams traded leads, but the Spartans were unable to finish on top.

Missouri Baptist started off hot in the third set. MBU held the lead for a majority of the set, but Park University crept their way back into the game and tied the score several times, but was not quite able to take the lead. After a kill from Daniel Arteaga, however, the Pirates gained the momentum and capitalized on it to sweep the Spartans in three sets.

Mico Janicijevic led Missouri Baptist with 14 kills and Flood also contributed nine kills of his own. Kevin Knight posted a hitting percentage of 0.500 off of two kills, four attempts, and no errors.

MBU will wrap up the regular season on Thursday, April 2, at Hannibal LaGrange for their final conference and regular season game.
