ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE] – The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team defeated Morningside (Iowa) 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-18) on Friday.
Morningside jumped out to a quick lead and traded the lead with the Spartans (14-0, 2-0) throughout the set. MBU, however, went on an 8-2 run to regain the lead and take the first set 25-23.
Missouri Baptist controlled set two from beginning to end as the team held Morningside to a negative hitting percentage in the set and recorded 12 kills compared to the Mustangs two.
The Spartans continued to hold strong in set three as the team started the set with four straight service aces from Kyle Foley. MBU recorded its highest hitting percentage of the match at 0.389.
Mico Janicijevic led the offense with 17 kills. The Serbian native recorded only two errors on the night and posted an impressive hitting percentage of 0.652.
Foley matched his career high of eight service aces, which is also an MBU record for individual single-match performance.
The Spartans will take on one more opponent in Iowa to close out the week on February 20, against Briar Cliff (Iowa).
