ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE] – The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team ended its weekend in Iowa with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-14) win over Briar Cliff (Iowa) on Saturday.
The Chargers hung with the Spartans (15-0, 2-0) at the beginning of set one, but MBU in turn held Briar Cliff to a hitting percentage of 0 and notched the first set 25-17.
Briar Cliff kept Missouri Baptist on its toes in set two with a total of 12 ties in the set, but the Spartans were not deterred as the team recorded its highest hitting percentage of 0.481 in the set.
The Spartans jumped out to a quick lead in set three and maintained that lead through the entirety of the set as the team recorded 11 kills compared to the Charges five.
Chris Flood led the offensive effort with nine kills. Sean Benedict and Race Munger followed closely behind with eight and seven kills respectively.
Kyle Foley fed the offense with a total of 33 assists for an average of 11 assists per set.
The Spartans will be on the road again Monday, February 22, to Canton, Mo. to face the Culver-Stockton Wildcats.
