ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE] – The No. 1 ranked Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team defeated No. 10 ranked Culver-Stockton (Mo.) 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-16, 25-22) on Monday.
The Wildcats kept the score close in the first set as the teams recorded 10 and 11 kills respectively in the set. The Spartans (16-0, 2-0), however, snatched the first set with a 25-21 victory.
In set two, the momentum shifted in favor of Culver-Stockton as the team evened out the set score at one set apiece. CSC recorded its highest hitting percentage of the match at 0.300 and held MBU to its lowest hitting percentage of 0.143.
Missouri Baptist jumped back into action in set three as the team held the Wildcats to their lowest hitting percentage of 0.037 and took a one set lead over CSC.
The Spartans carried the momentum from set three into set four and recorded their highest hitting percentage of the match at 0.467.
Mico Janicijevic led the offense with 17 kills. Chris Flood and Sean Benedict followed Janicijevic with seven kills apiece.
Robert Hall matched his season-high of 15 digs in the match.
MBU will continue conference play on Wednesday, February 4, against rival Park University (Mo.).
