Jovanovic, Rudic Win Heart Men’s Volleyball Weekly Awards

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University men's volleyball had two named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Player of the Week awards presented by Molten on Monday. Marko Jovanovic won Attacker of the Week while David Rudic won Setter of the Week, leading their team to a 3-0 record in conference play last week.

Jovanovic, an outside hitter from Belgrade, Serbia, won his third Heart weekly award and first Attacker of the Week award after helping the Spartans to three wins with 44 total kills. He averaged 4.00 over 11 sets and posted a .309 attack percentage. Against No. 10 Missouri Valley College, he pushed MBU to a five-set win with 17 kills and a pair of service aces. He followed up with nine in a sweep of Kansas Wesleyan University and 18 in a sweep of Ottawa University.

Setting him up was the Setter of the Week, David Rudic. The senior from Gornji Milanovac, Serbia, claimed his sixth career Heart weekly award with an average of 10.60 assists per set and 106 total. In the five-set win over the Vikings, he posted 54, including the 3,000th assist of his career. He played in two sets against KWU and added 16 assists before a 36-assist performance in a sweep over the Braves.

MBU men's volleyball is currently ranked 11th in the nation and sits at 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Their next game is scheduled against the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m.
